Scan Any Website for Cookies

Ever wondered what your website sets before a visitor clicks anything on the cookie banner? Our new cookie checker shows you. It’s free, and you don’t need to sign up or give us your email address.

Enter an address and click Check cookies. Our scanner loads the page in a real browser as a first-time visitor and leaves the banner alone. Then it lists everything that showed up:

  • Cookies, with their domain, category, expiry and security settings.
  • Browser storage, the localStorage and sessionStorage keys the page writes.
  • Trackers, the analytics, advertising and other third-party tools the page loaded. Cookieless analytics (like Fathom) are listed as scripts.

We also look for a consent banner and name it when we recognise it.

A cookie report for usefathom.com, rated A, Crumb-free, with 0 cookies, 0 browser storage, 0 trackers and 1 cookieless script

Each report gets a grade from A to F, with one of our cats to go with it. The grade reflects how much the page sets up for analytics, advertising or personalisation before visitors choose. Functional, security and unidentified cookies never lower it. Click How we rate on the report to see what each grade means.

A few things worth knowing:

  • It can spot tools waiting for consent. Some tools are installed but wait for the visitor to accept. We can find some of them from the site’s Google Tag Manager setup or from scripts the banner is holding back, and list them under After consent with the cookies they usually set.
  • You can take the results with you. Filter and sort the full list under All findings, then copy it or download a CSV. Save as PDF gives you a report to send around or attach to a ticket.
  • Sharing is simple. Copy link gives you a link that runs a fresh scan of the same site. Share on X posts your grade with a link to the checker, but not the site you scanned.
  • It’s a snapshot, not a verdict. Each scan covers one page, loaded once, from the location shown on the report. It tells you what we found before consent, not whether a site is compliant.
  • The checker doesn’t set cookies. (It would be a little awkward if it did.)

Try it on your own site, or on that one site you’ve always been curious about. The cookie checker page also covers how to read your results and when cookies need consent in the UK, EU and US. As always, we’d love to hear what you think.
