Introducing: traffic sources

Sources (found in the Referrers box) describe where traffic to your website comes from, i.e., its "source". We've added this feature because customers have been asking to be able to learn about and filter by different visitor sources. The four sources we account for are:

  • Direct - visitors with no referrer present
  • Paid/Campaign - visitors who came from an online ad (Google or Bing)
  • Organic - visitors who came from a search engine or website organically (i.e., no UTM or advertising identifier)
  • Social - visitors who came from a social media website (like X/Twitter)

By showing customers the source, they can better understand how people arrive at their website or web app, and more importantly, see how their specific marketing efforts are working (i.e., if you apply a filter for a source, then look at event conversions).

See how we organize the different sources here.
